NUMBER 3: EMAIL MARKETING ISN’T DEAD. YOU’RE JUST NOT SENDING THE RIGHT STUFF OR SENDING IT TO THE RIGHT PEOPLE
I’ve heard many times that Email Marketing is dead. And in my opinion, it’s a load of crap. If you have low open rates, it’s because you’re not giving people what they want. OR, you’re talking to the wrong people.
If I have one piece of advice, DO NOT BUY COLD LISTS. If someone contacts you, and you don’t know how they’ve got your details, why the hell are you going to give them any money? No trust from the first point of contact. DON’T DO IT. Also, it ruins your IP address. So that’s the exact reason why you’re ending up in the spam folder.
When you do have quality lists, you want to nurture it. Offer people what they want. Why have they subscribed? If it was me, it would be a healthy mix of content and promotions, the same as Social Media. But again, it all depends on your brand and what you offer.
